The West Suffolk Symphonic Wind Band (WSSWB) was founded in 2024 with the goal of providing a platform for musicians seeking to perform in a high-quality wind ensemble.
The band has quickly distinguished itself with the quality of a professional wind band despite its recent inception. Under the direction of Rob Head, a director and conductor, whose notable leadership with the Bury St Edmunds Concert Band has adeptly prepared him to steer this vibrant new ensemble.
WSSWB stands out as more than just a typical wind band; it brings together both amateur and semi-professional musicians from across the East of England, all united by a passion for music. With Rob’s artistic direction, the ensemble aims to push the boundaries of wind band performance, striving for excellence on both the national and international stages. Our goal is to build a vibrant community where music promotes connection, expression, and innovation.
The band's repertoire is ambitious and diverse, ranging from classical wind compositions to contemporary commissioned works, ensuring that every performance is a distinctive and memorable experience. WSSWB will ensure that each performance is a unique and unforgettable experience.
We are entirely self-supporting and financed through membership subscriptions and revenue from concerts. The Band is available for hire for corporate, community or charitable events and concerts can be indoors or outdoors.
We invite you to experience our journey and become part of the WSSWB story. Whether you’re interested in joining the band or booking a performance, we welcome your enquiries and look forward to sharing our music with you.
